Mississauga: Step in for Better Vision!

At Dr. Diane Shin & Associates in Streetsville, we provide comprehensive eye exams and care services to patients of all ages. Our clinic is open Monday through Thursday, with convenient evening and weekends options also available.

Comprehensive Eye Exams

There is a common misconception that if a person sees well than their eyes must be healthy. However, many sight-threatening diseases do not affect your vision and have no early warning signs or symptoms. Regular eye examinations and early intervention are the best ways to maintain good vision and healthy eyes.

Appointment Guidelines

In order to better serve you and make the most of your visit with us please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment to allow for registration and pre-testing.

  • Bring all current eyeglasses.

  • If you wear contact lenses, please bring your case.

  • If you have your most recent contact lens prescription or the boxes the contact lens are packaged in, please bring them with you.

  • List of prescriptions and non-prescription medications, such as vitamins and herbs.

  • Bring your OHIP card even if you are not eligible for OHIP coverage. All patients under the age of 19 and those over the age of 65 should provide our staff with an OHIP card.

  • Bring any insurance forms with you. It’s always a good idea to check your vision coverage before your exam date.

  • If you have been referred by another doctor, please bring your referral on the day of the exam and advise the staff at the time of booking.

  • Bring a list of questions or concerns you may have for the doctor.

  • If you are interested in a consultation regarding contact lenses, laser surgery, or any other special consideration, please mention it to staff at the time you book your appointment, and again on the day of your appointment.

  • Please bring sunglasses in the event your eyes are dilated.

  • Please allow one hour in your schedule following the end of your expected appointment time.

Some eye exams require a “dilated fundus” exam. This means your pupil will be dilated and you will experience blurred vision and light sensitivity for up to 3 hours after your exam. It is advisable to bring a pair of sunglasses and/or a driver. If this is not possible, a second visit may be required to complete all testing. An order for dilation is more likely in patients with small pupils, patients who are diabetic, seniors, those with high myopia or nearsightedness, as well as patients complaining of sudden vision loss, “flashes” or “floaters”.

We look forward to serving you and all your eye care needs.
